Tutorial for beginners (Android)

You can not only register a blabber.im account via our web form, within your mobile client you can also directly create an account.

We show you how to create a Jabber account directly in blabber.im.

Screenshots are in german language, please follow the description!

Point 1: Install App for free

In the Google Play Store we search for the app “blabber.im” and install it.

• blabber.im is free and basically based on Conversations
• This messenger app makes it easier to get started with Jabber through various adaptations and implementations

Point 2: Introduction and storage access

Now we open the app and go through the illustrated instructions step by step.

1. We go through the introduction with the arrow to the right
2. With Allow we confirm that the app can access the storage
3. We also go through the introduction to the profile with the arrow to the right
4. Cancel the update service screen -> Cancel

Point 3: Create account

Now we can create a new profile.

1. We select CREATE NEW PROFILE
2. Select your username:
   1. Enter your username
   2. Your Jabber-ID is displayed. Your friends can use this contact address to contact you and chat with you safely.
   3. Press CONTINUE
3. Create new profile:
   1. A password is automatically generated and displayed
   2. We click on COPY TO INTERIOR
4. Press CONTINUE
5. Enter Captcha:
   1. Enter the 6-digit number from the picture
   2. Confirm with OK
6. Enter your name:
   1. Choose a nickname
   2. Press CONTINUE
7. Set privacy settings and press CONTINUE

Punkt 3b: Setup existing account

If you already have an account/profile, you can log in to blabber.im directly with it.

1. We select “I have an account“.
2. Enter your Jabber-ID and your password in the corresponding fields. Note that the @ is preceded by your username and the @ is followed by the server on which your account is located. This server does not have to be blabber.im! Click on NEXT
3. Enter a nickname of your choice and click on NEXT
4. Make privacy settings and press NEXT

Point 4: Define profile picture (optional)

Jabber, like all instant messengers, allows you to specify a profile picture (called avatar) per account.

When creating an account you will be asked for an avatar.

1. Click on the large letter to select a profile picture
2. PUBLISH will upload your profile picture and your friends will see it
3. Then go with arrow to the right through the introduction for chatting

Point 5: Join group chat (optional)

To fill your contact list right after installation, you can join various group chats.

1. We allow access to the contacts and click Allow
   blabber.im does not upload contacts, they are only read out!
2. Click on the menu at the bottom right and then on Discover channels
3. We CONFIRM the privacy policy of the channel search engine
4. We are looking for a channel/group:
   1. We enter: funny stuff
   2. Now we press the hit Funny Stuff
5. Now we go through the introduction with arrow right to the group chat
6. You see funny pictures and videos of other participants

Point 6: Add contact

We now add a friend or family member.

1. First click on the chat bubble sign at the bottom right
2. Now we press the + symbol
3. We select Add contact from
4. Add contact:
   1. Enter your friend’s Jabber-ID*
   2. Finish with ADD
5. In the chat window we click on the paper clip
6. There we select Select picture and search for a file
7. Thumbnails of files are displayed

* Die JID, oder auch Jabber-ID, besteht aus deinem Nicknamen und der Domain bsp. wunschname@blabber.im

Point 7: Display/change password (optional)

If the generated password was lost, you can set your own password as follows.

1. In the main menu on the top right we click on Edit profile
2. We can display our password in the top right menu
3. > The password is displayed <.
4. The password can also be changed via the menu
5. Change password:
   1. Enter your desired password under New password
   2. With CHANGE PASSWORD the password is set
6. The change is displayed
